Spitz to join Badgers this fall
Sam Spitz, a fullback from Chicago, has been admitted to the University of Wisconsin and will join the Badger football program in the fall, head coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday.
Spitz, 6-foot-1 and 245 pounds, will graduate this spring from Whitney Young Magnet High School, where he earned three football and two baseball letters. A two-year team captain for the football team, Spitz was a two-way starter and three-time all-conference selection. He earned all-city and all-Public League honors in 2007 as he led his team to the best record (9-0) in school history.
Spitz was coached by Tim Franken at Whitney Young, where he was a six-time “Principal’s Scholar” and seven-time honor roll student. Spitz also was a starting pitcher with the varsity baseball team as a freshman and sophomore.
